39 Days ‘til Christmas…notes from Ginny

Sunday night and it’s 39 days ‘til Christmas. Sales are earlier than ever - trees, lights, ornaments are all ready sooner and up faster. Preparing for the season - especially if you’re hosting family and friends can go from joy to the world to a very silent night.

Organization is essential - and taking time for yourself. After all, it’s a season of celebration.

A few things a week and you’ll be feeling more jolly and ready to celebrate each day of the 39 to go.

Mid-november - have you decided if you’re doing a Christmas cookie exchange or a nightime holiday party? With Thanksgiving looming, it might feel too soon but better to get on people’s schedules and our own.

Now’s the moment to pick the day and date and start selecting invites. The friends you actually want there - tell them informally now and then get your invite ready. Paperless Post has everything from a “Merry Little Friendmas” and Christmas critters hopping about to a merry mixer.

And for goodness sake, take some time for yourself.

Netflix is out with a new movie every few days as it tries to out-holiday Hallmark. “Merry Little Ex-Mas” which has some rather jolly moments as well as some lovely sentiment spiced with snark.

Three easy to-dos that will are easy now and essential later - decide on your Christmas cards and wrapping paper. And if you’re thinking of going faux tree instead of fir tree, buy it now, especially with all these sales going. If you’re for faux, look for one with that’s pre-lit to save you from all the untangling of last year’s lights.

We have suggestions for all - but now’s the time to make that list and check it twice. And then kick back with a hot chocolate. The week begins.
